Clea Hall - Qld - Youth A Female - Lead & Boulder
I’ve been climbing for 6 years. I started at a very small gym with my brother; we both got hooked straight away. I loved every aspect of the sport- the heights, the problem solving and the tight-knit community. Now, several years later, I climb at UrbanClimb, with my coach, Khosro Hashemzadeh, and still love the sport as passionately.
My favourite discipline is lead. After a broken finger injury that took me out for two months at the start of this year, I built back with lead climbing. As I relearned climbing movements, I savoured every flag, foot match and kneebar. This has fully changed my climbing style into something that I hope reflects my love for a sport that I can’t live without.
As a climber in Youth D, I always thought going to an international competition as out of reach and wished hopelessly about going one day. Now, it’s happening. I can’t really believe it. The only expectation I have for WYC, is for me to climb the best I can on the day. It doesn’t matter to me if I come last or am in the semi-finals. All I want is to show everyone, through my climbing, how hard I have been training and my love for the sport.
I love eating some pea snaps with my friends at the crag. The best competition snack too!
I am luckily sponsored by Pinnacle Sports. They taught me that a sponsor is not just a logo to wear at competitions but another support system. They are wonderful people that are always willing to help me get the PERFECT climbing shoe- even if I’m at the store for an hour trying different shoes!
