Tour de Corde Info Pack
We have some exciting new changes for this year's series. Mountain Equipment is back on board as the major sponsors. They are offering overall prizes this year and lucky door prizes for each round.
We also have Cousin Trestec Ropes sponsoring the Team Competition, so make sure your gym team is ready to go as there are some big prizes up for grabs! Asin past years the top 2 climbers from each gym will be awarded points toward their gym's total. Gyms can maximise their score by ensuring they have climbers in all categories.
For the past 3 years, Opens, Legends, Youth A and Youth B have had to climb their 10 best climbs on the night. We have changed this to your best 8 so you can throw yourself at some of the harder ones!
Youth C are also doing their best 8 climbs on the day so our young guns can choose which climbs to display their talents on.
We've brough in a big change for Open climbers. Open and Intermediate will be entered as one category. Once score sheets are handed in, the median score will be calculated. The winner of Intermediate will be the climber with the highest score below the Median score. This system has been used successfully in Victoria and overseas. It is designed to promote participation, enjoyment, skills and fitness in all levels of climbers. There will be no Open C this year.
2 weeks till it all starts, see you there!

World Youth Team 2011
The Australian team were celebtraing last week after some great peformancs by our climbers at the recent World Youth Championships held in Imst, Austria.Team captain, Daniel Fisher, lead the way , making the semi finals in the Junior males, finishing a very creditable 19th. This was followed up by Art Ho Bayly who then put in a great heat for the speed event in the Junior males, qualifying in 16th place for the finals. Despite drawing the fastest qualifier in his next round, and subsequently being knocked out of the comp, Art's time in the final was good enough to see him move into 13th place overall.

Results generally were very pleasing. Lucy Stirling improved on her placing from 2010, with a 41st in the lead event in the Junior females. Other results saw - Scott Pritchard (55th) and Art Ho Bayly (59th) in Junior lead males; Loesje Fletcher (58th) in Youth A females,; Matthew Tsang (55th) and Kyle Brandon- in his first WYC experience-(71st) in Youth A males; and our young first time WYC competitors in Youth B females- Judith Carroll (58th), Lindsay Fletcher (66th) and Jemima Matters (70th). Given some fields had up to 90 competitors these results were terrific.
Well done to all involved and a big thank you in particular to team coaches, Rob and Carlie Le Breton on preparing the team so well this year.
