The Pinnacle Social Series started 2008 in style, with a mixed-format event at Pine Rivers PCYC.  There was a great rollup for the first round of the series, especially in the open categories, and the folks at the PCYC made us feel welcome with a fantastic BBQ breakfast.  The first session went off, with six-year-old Hannah Christie stealing the show in the 9 years and under division.  We also had our first ever three-way tie for first place, with Ben Spokes, Tom O'Halloran and James Campbell locked together on 97 points.  There were challenging and varied routes, some technical and tough boulder problems, and a fun speed climb to round out the event.  Full results are at the bottom of this email.


We are fortunate to have continued support from Pinnacle Sports for the Social Series, to the tune of $8500 worth of prizes for the series, and AJ from Pinnacle Sports was on hand to talk about Pinnacle's outdoor courses and to sell products at the event.  Thanks again to Pinnacle for their huge contribution to the Social Series.  If you need any gear, or if you want to get out and hit some real rock with qualified instructors, have a look at Pinnacle's web site at www.pinnaclesports.com.au .

The next event is on Sunday May 18 at Adrenalin, Church St . , Toowoomba.  Cathy and the guys always make us feel very welcome when we make the trip up the range, so make a day of it and come climbing in a gym with some great walls and interesting features.

These categories register at 9am, and climb at 9:30am

- Youth D (born 1997 or 1998)

- Youth C (born 1995 or 1996)

These categories register at 11am and climb at 11:30am

- Youth B (born 1993 or 1994)

- Youth A (born 1991 or 1992)

- Junior (born 1989 or 1990)

These categories register at 2pm and climb at 2:30pm

- Open Novice (climbing less than a year or up to grade 19 (female) or 21 (male))

- Masters (35+)
