All that attended the festival will attest the success of the revamped Escalade competition. An estimated 1500 were in the audience for the finals and the Australian climbing community is already looking forward to the next one. Watching Garth blitz the field in both the heats and the final was truly awesome.
A new format for Australia was the Dyno comp. On the world scene this is new. The rules are still not fully formalised. The SCA purchased the standard competition hold from Britain and we now have an Inaugural Australian Dyno record set by Matt Storer (2.5M) and Steph Hopkins (2.0M), both in the Junior category. The world records of 2.7M and 2.17M are within reach of both of these climbers. The SCA is planning to make this a regular feature at competitions.
The speed climbing, as always proved to be great spectator sport. The fastest time on the day was set by Tom Farrell at 7.62s
